The Power Of Conflicting Ideas And Why It Matters

Conflicting ideas, they are always fighting. As a young professional having confidence is the only way to leave an impression and gain respect, but you still humble at the same time. These conflicting ideas happen in an split second. I am humble and confident at the same time, conflicting ideas.

My Conflicting Ideas In the Early Days

Startup, as a fresh project coordinator, you’re not suppose to have a voice when you end up in a meeting with decision makers (approves promotions and firings). There’s always been a chip on my shoulder, as a bartender I figured out that I must tailor my greetings to my patrons.

Girls at the bar? I must bring the energy, “Obviously a couple shots to start right?!”. Couple guys at the other end, come in tamed and get to the point, “A few shots and beers?”. The whole point was getting an up sale by using these two opposing ideas.

Conflicting emotions and ideas all at the same time within the same moment. My go to line with bartenders and servers, “you’re so good at your job I think you’re flirting with me!”

Conflicting Ideas? Analytical or Creative?

Yes, I can be logical and be creative. You can probably relate, most likely not (that’s okay). Starting my career in tech, I spent all of my time with the technical team where no one had any sort of charm or sense of light humor (most were dark and/or pervs but can’t start off with jokes like that on the first day).

Finally, I found my way to the designers, a little bit more my vibe, although too prentious for me. I saw my opportunity to assist in UX designs for my boss (position yourself for long term success). Scratching the itch to be creative, not be be constrained by the idea of being analytical (I love stripe’s dashboards, especially when they the percents are green).

I’ve found my way to be responsible of reviewing designs for the end users and getting access to our database so that I can merge them together to make analytics dashboards for.

I Am Always Conflicted About People

With AI coming in to automate everything in it’s path at the expense of the working class, social skills will be in extremely high demand. I can’t stand being around people sometimes because most people just find the quickest way to complain about something.

At the same time, I’ll be the first one to strike a conversation with strangers because I find people intresting. “First, take a genuine interest in other people. Genuine is the key word. Don’t fake it.” – Dale Carnegie

I geniunely dislike most people, but I can still find that I am geniuenly interested in people on an individual level.

Holding conflicting ideas in your head will get you further in life because you can flow with the situation and not let one idea or emotion anchor you.

“I hate stubborn people, they are always right.” – UrbnGentleman. I have a huge ego but I know when it’s better to let things go.
